Aesthetic medicine encompasses a variety of different procedures that improve your appearance. Throughout his medical training, Dr. Navarkal realized that some of the procedures that are effective in treating sports injuries can also help rejuvenate the skin.
Common conditions that may benefit from aesthetic medicine include:
Depending on your individual aesthetic goals and areas of concern, Dr. Navarkal may recommend using one or more of the following minimally invasive procedures:
Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, therapy improves skin tone by stimulating collagen production and new cell growth. PRP is a concentrated solution of platelets and growth factors derived from your own body. Although this procedure is still being investigated, research shows PRP to be an effective treatment for facial rejuvenation and improving skin quality.
Stem Cell Therapy
Similar to PRP, stem cell therapy uses cells from your own body, or in some cases from a donor, to promote rapid self-healing and rejuvenation. Stem cells may help restore lost volume to your face or breasts, and can reduce scars, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.
In addition to treating migraines and muscle spasms, Dr. Navarkal offers Botox injections for cosmetic treatments. Botox uses a special medicine to deactivate the muscles in your face that create crow’s feet around your eyes and worry lines between your brow.
PRP, stem cell, and Botox injections are all minimally invasive procedures that require no incisions, anesthesia, or downtime for recovery. You should be able to resume normal activities immediately after leaving the office.
The amount of time each treatment requires depends on the exact procedure, but Dr. Navarkal can, for example, finish a Botox treatment during your lunch break.
Side effects are minor and generally pass within a few hours or days, but you may experience some discomfort, redness, or swelling at the treatment site.
You may notice results right away, but most patients need multiple or follow-up treatments for optimal results.
